About Me

My kids will tell you that I’m obsessed with lightbulbs. I’m not sure where that obsession comes from, but it’s an apt metaphor for my wholehearted devotion to learning. I truly believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and that we’re never too old to enjoy or appreciate ‘lightbulb moments.’

Before I began my current career as a UPS driver, I enjoyed a career in teaching and learning across a variety of roles and settings. I’m a social scientist (PhD, Sociology, University of Arizona) with research interests in culture, organizations, work occupations, and the economy. I try to use my professional training to help understand and explain my work and life.

I’m also an avid runner committed to safety. I found this light vest at a race expo and have been running with it ever since. Now I also use it to deliver packages after nightfall. It’s a great conversation-starter.

Even though I’m only halfway to my goal, I’m a member of the 50 States Marathon Club. In 2020, despite the pandemic, I managed to run two marathons: one in Jackson, Mississippi, and the other in Jackson, Wyoming. After taking 2021 off, I’m back at it in 2022, running marathons in Denver and Indianapolis.

I’d love to hear from you! You can reach me here.
