My kids will tell you that I’m obsessed with lightbulbs. I’m not sure where that obsession comes from, but it’s an apt metaphor for my wholehearted devotion to learning. I truly believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and that we’re never too old to enjoy or appreciate ‘lightbulb moments.’
Before I began my current career as a UPS driver, I enjoyed a career in teaching and learning across a variety of roles and settings. I’m a social scientist (PhD, Sociology, University of Arizona) with research interests in culture, organizations, work and occupations, and the economy. I try to use my professional training to help understand and explain my work and life.
I’m also an avid runner committed to safety. Years ago I found this light vest at a race expo and have been running with it ever since. Now I also use it to deliver packages after nightfall. It’s a great conversation-starter.
Even though I’m only three-fifths of the way to my goal, I’m a member of the 50 States Marathon Club. You can follow along with my quest here.
I’d love to hear from you! You can reach me here.
